Simple Services Delivery model (SSDM)

The critical success factors for any IT Services or Software project to be successful are :
  • Correct Project organization
  • A Documented Scope Of Work (SOW)
  • Business process documentation
  • A Reporting and escalation mechanism

Following many years of experience in managing and delivering offshore projects successfully, our team ensures that during close interactions with key users, they understand the requirements, business processes and philosophy properly. An in depth understanding of these areas translates into positive results in services or products that meet our clients’ business requirements.

Onsite and Offshore Engagement model

Offshore Outsourcing has gone mainstream and now offshore is now no longer a concept but a reality!

The initial perception was that offshore outsourcing was appropriate for larger organisations; however it is now increasingly apparent that almost every organisation, big or small, can benefit from offshore outsourcing.

Indian software service providers have matured the process of offshore delivery. A combination of onsite and offshore software services has become a successful delivery model for many software projects. Advantages to the client include not just cost reduction but also access to a larger pool of experienced and skilled offshore software professionals capable of delivering high quality software and IT services.

Source Paradigm’s Onsite - Offshore engagement model is designed to pass these benefits to  clients. Our entire Onsite - Offshore engagement model is governed by the Simple Services Delivery model (SSDM) to ensure that the Client team and Source Paradigm team works closely with each other. SSDM implements a Governance model that:
  • Provides complete transparency on project performance (providing near real time project dashboards)
  • Identifies risks at different stages of offshore sourcing and initiates a risk mitigation plan
  • Builds flexibility to adapt to changing client needsProvides service improvement opportunities by establishing base lines and then measuring against them

Onsite – Offshore Software services delivery model Overview:

  • Software project teams are divided into two sub teams viz., the onsite (nearer to client) & offshore team in India.

  • Onsite team is led by onsite PM or Account manager and Offshore team is led by Offshore Project manager

  • Onsite team is staffed with the senior techno functional consultants who understand the client’s requirement along with the key users and document them. The activities are divided in 2 types

    • Onsite activities are completed at the client’s end
    • Offshore activities are documented and prepared for the offshore team.

  • Size of the onsite team is decided based on the size of the project and the support requirements.

  • Offshore team is managed by a dedicated Project manager. The offshore PM co-ordinates the requirements with the onsite team and gets them executed through the offshore delivery team.

  • The offshore delivery team size is decided based on the project size and support requirements and comprises of both technical and functional consultants.

Onsite activities:

  • Onsite techno functional software consultants work as channels between the Client business analysts and offshore project team.

  • ONSITE consultants work closely with the key users and the client team to understand the business processes and to document the requirements. Together with the steering team, a realization plan is prepared for various activities.

  • Requirement specification documents are always approved by the key users and steering teams.

  • Activities that require a closer cooperation with the client team are executed onsite to save time and efforts (Document, execute, test and deploy).

  • Offshore activities are prepared / documented by the onsite team along with the key users

  • After approval from the steering team, offshore activities are transitioned to the offshore team for realization.

Offshore activities:

  • Approved functional documents are accepted by the offshore project manager.

  • The offshore team converts the business requirements and functional documents into the technical design at offshore software delivery centre.

  • Offshore Team Leaders and Functional Leaders translate the requirements and functional designs for the functional/ technical team members for realization.

  • Based on approved technical designs, code is built, tested and deployed from offshore.

  • Sample data and test conditions are received from the client team or are already present in the test environment.

  • Built in developments/customisations are tested by the teams with the sample data from the client or in the sample test environment with test cases relevant to the client business.

  • If software development / software coding is involved, the code is sent through the cycles of code review within the team of TL, QA members and client side technical reviewers.

  • Code/Customization is frozen for functional business testing.

  • The tested code/customization is released to the onsite team for combined testing with the client (in the QA environment) along with relevant documentation. Upon approval, the changes then go into production.

  • On approval from client post internal testing, the code is packed and delivered to the client project team.

Today's ERP systems organize and manage business processes by sharing information across all functional areas of a modern organization. SAP Shared Services

It is estimated that the annual support costs of a typical SAP site are some 36% of the original implementation cost. Large companies often handle post-implementation support in-house, typically with a full-blown Centre of Excellence. While service levels and user satisfaction may be high the costs of the same also are on the higher side.

Sometimes all support is outsourced, perhaps due to company policy or a cost control regime. Many mid-market companies implement a blend of internal and outsourced support. This is viewed as the most cost-effective and service oriented support methodology.

Though there are no hard and fast rules, companies will typically keep general Level 1 (helpdesk, password resets, log-on problems, etc) and basic level 2 (problems that do not require system changes, e.g. master data or transaction problems) and program management / relative task priorities in-house, and look for external skilled support with deeper levels of knowledge for more complex level 2 support, all level 3 support, large project assistance and ad-hoc module support where there is insufficient need for an in-house Full Time Equivalent (FTE).

We offer our clients the opportunity to obtain a package of supplemental SAP capabilities that will augment their in-house resources in an optimal manner.

Shared Support Services for SAP are essentially consolidation of support services for various SAP system elements and functions among a number of clients to improve efficiency, effectiveness and lower costs of service delivery.

Small to medium businesses with mature SAP systems will gain significant cost advantages by utilising shared services through an offshore model

The offshore shared service model provides customer cost saving opportunities by offering a choice of a blend of  fixed and variable pricing for their specific support needs, only paying for what is required in practice and not staffing internally for potential future needs.

Shared services model:

  • A dedicated team of skilled offshore personnel in place to provide required support services
  • Our client’s Team size can be held to a minimum with resultant lower costs.
  • Resources are shared across multiple clients, thereby providing the client the cost        benefits of a shared pool of resources
  • Each client can contract for a blend of fixed and variable components based upon anticipated usage and adjusted in the light of experience over time.
  • Availability of a larger pool of skilled resources than that affordable as an internal support team gives the client added security
  • Incident/issue based billing rates are kept to a bare minimum
  • Required resources can be scaled up or down in line with changing circumstances, offering the client significantly enhanced operational flexibility.
  • 24 X 7 Support operations

The Resources:

  • Experienced, skilled and Certified SAP professionals
  • Domain knowledge ranging from 2 years up to 22 years across various industries ranging from manufacturing, construction, media, etc, to name a few.
  • In addition to SAP professionals, the team has IT professionals with expertise in technologies such as: ASP, ASP.net, PHP, VB, SQL Server and Oracle
  • A flexible, creative and innovative workforce dedicated to provide solutions that help clients achieve maximum potential from IT investments

SAP Health Check – Audit Services

Due to a variety of reasons, it may be that an SAP implementation has not quite delivered all of the benefits that were anticipated at the visionary stage of taking the decision to proceed, at a cost within striking distance of original estimates and in a timescale close to original plans.

The implementation of an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system such as SAP is a major undertaking for any company, especially those at the mid-market level. In typically leads to the redesign of business processes, resulting in significant changes to the way the business is run. An SAP Audit and Health Check is an important first step to identify if maximum leverage is being obtained from the ERP system that has been implemented, and assess where additional value can be gained.

Our Consultants can review your organization's existing applications, document relative performance levels and compare those results to industry best practices and standards. We will highlight how well the SAP application is performing to meet current and likely future needs. Based on these findings, we will recommend solutions for maximizing the value on the initial SAP investment for the entire enterprise.
